Scholarships and Bursaries

The Brokenhead River Community Foundation currently offers 2 Scholarships and 5 Bursaries to students residing in the Ecole Edward Schreyer School Catchment area.

Over the past five years (2016 – 2020) the Foundation has disbursed $31,625 to 41 students enrolled in post-secondary education. In 2021 the Foundation is pleased to announce that we will award over $10,000 to another 7 deserving students.  

Current Scholarships include:

BROKENHEAD RIVER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRADE 12 GRADUATING SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000.00

Awarded based on academic performance and community service

ROBERT RONDEAU MEMORIAL CURLING SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000.00

Open to those who are actively involved in curling, exhibiting good sportsmanship, during the final two years of secondary school and based on their academic performance.

Current Bursaries include:

BROKENHEAD RIVER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BURSARIES – Two @ $900.00 each 

Awarded based on academic performance, community service and financial need

SCIENCE BURSARY – 4 consecutive years ($1,000.00 for years 1& 2, and $1,500.00 for years 3 & 4)

Open to students entering and continuing in a science related field at a university or community college. Awarded based on academic performance and financial need

BROKENHEAD –THALBERG NORTH-MARS- BROKENHEAD EAST GRADE 12 GRADUATION BURSARY – $600.00

Preference given to students living in the Brokenhead-Thalberg North-Mars-Brokenhead East area and awarded based on academic performance, community service and financial need

ERIC LEFKO MEMORIAL BURSARY – $750.00

Open to students entering the University of Manitoba Agriculture Diploma or Degree program and based on financial need.
