There are a number of scholarships and bursaries available from the foundation.  Information on them is available at the Ecole Edward Schreyer school Guidance Office and at the school web site.

The Brokenhead River Community Foundation currently offers 2 Scholarships and 5 Bursaries to students residing in the Ecole Edward Schreyer School Catchment area.

Over the past five years (2016 – 2020) the Foundation has disbursed $31,625 to 41 students enrolled in post-secondary education.

In 2021 the Foundation is pleased to announce that we will award over $10,000 to another 7 deserving students. 

Current Scholarships include:

BROKENHEAD RIVER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRADE 12 GRADUATING SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000.00

Awarded based on academic performance and community service

ROBERT RONDEAU MEMORIAL CURLING SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000.00

Open to those who are actively involved in curling, exhibiting good sportsmanship, during the final two years of secondary school and based on their academic performance.

Current Bursaries include:

BROKENHEAD RIVER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BURSARIES – Two @ $900.00 each

Awarded based on academic performance, community service and financial need

SCIENCE BURSARY – 4 consecutive years ($1,000.00 for years 1& 2, and $1,500.00 for years 3 & 4)

Open to students entering and continuing in a science related field at a university or community college. Awarded based on academic performance and financial need

BROKENHEAD –THALBERG NORTH-MARS- BROKENHEAD EAST GRADE 12 GRADUATION BURSARY – $600.00

Preference given to students living in the Brokenhead-Thalberg North-Mars-Brokenhead East area and awarded based on academic performance, community service and financial need

ERIC LEFKO MEMORIAL BURSARY – $750.00

Open to students entering the University of Manitoba Agriculture Diploma or Degree program and based on financial need.

 BURSARY AND SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES – 2021

Through the generous donations of citizens of this community, the BRCF is pleased to be able to award scholarships and bursaries to deserving students.

All Applicants must:

Reside in the Edward Schreyer School catchment area

Be a student enrolled full time in a school that meets the requirements of the Manitoba Department of Education

Be  graduating in the current school year

Be going on to post-secondary education within one year of high school graduation

Have demonstrated through service and volunteerism beyond their work requirements, a commitment to the community and/or school. (Required for BRCF Bursary, BRCF Scholarship and/or Brokenhead-Thalberg North-Mars-Bursary Applicants)

Demonstrate financial need (only for Bursaries)

Submit a transcript of your most recent marks and provide your second semester mid-term grade 12 marks

Submit completed application with accompanying documents by  May 31st

Scholarships:

BROKENHEAD RIVER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRADE 12 GRADUATING SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000.00

Based on academic performance and community service

ROBERT RONDEAU MEMORIAL CURLING SCHOLARSHIP – $1,000.00

Must have participated in amateur sport as a member of Curl Manitoba (either through a member curling venue or affiliated program)

Must be actively involved in curling, exhibiting good sportsmanship, during the final two years of secondary school -this must be attested to by a high school coach or a member of the executive of the curling club of which the student is a member. (due to COVID-19 cancellations only Grade 11 participation is required)

If two or more students apply with similar involvement in curling the student with the highest academic achievement shall be awarded the scholarship.

Bursaries:

BROKENHEAD RIVER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BURSARIESTwo @ $900.00 each

Based on academic performance, community service and financial need
