2017 Bursaries and Scholarships
Double Winner – Adhiraj Mukherjee
Adhiraj is this year’s winner of the Science Bursary from the Brokenhead River Community Foundation. He will receive $800 toward his studies for his Bachelors of Science from the University of Winnipeg. He will be eligible to receive this bursary for up to four years of his science education.
He was also the recipient of the $1000 scholarship from the foundation.
Adhiraj plans to continue his education at the University of Manitoba with a career in medicine.
Double Winner – Kathryn Cullen
Kathryn Cullen was also a double winner. She was awarded a foundation bursary of $700 and was the winner of the Robert Rondeau Memorial Curling Scholarship of $575. Kathryn will be continuing her studies at the University of St. Boniface.
Madeline Toupin
Madeline was the recipient of a $700 bursary from the foundation and will be studying at the University of Winnipeg.
Brooke Kintop
Brooke received the Four Schools North Bursary of $500 and is continuing her education at the University of Manitoba.
Matthew Kaminski
Matthew received the Eric Lefko Bursary of $500 and he will be studying at the University of Manitoba in Agriculture.
Robert Harris
Robert is entering his third year of studies at the University of Manitoba in the Science faculty. He received the Science Bursary of $800. This is the third time he has received this bursary and is eligible for one more year of support in his science education.
2016 Bursaries and Scholarships:
Double Winner – Kaylee Klaprat
Kaylee Klaprat is this year’s winner of the Science Bursary from the Brokenhead River Community Foundation. She will receive $800 toward her studies in the Bachelor of Science program from the University of Manitoba. She will be eligible to receive this bursary for up to four years of her science education.
As well as being a strong academic student Kaylee has also been very involved in her school and her community. She volunteered as a tutor during her high school years and was on the grad committee as fund raising chair.
Kaylee took her volunteering into the community with the Brokenhead Agricultural Society Rodeo for three years and the Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Kaylee’s commitment to curling earned her the Robert Rondeau Memorial Curling Scholarship of $500. While curling with the Tyndall Curling Club and the Beausejour Curling Club on a regular basis, she was also very active in school curling. Four times Kaylee has won the Eastman Zone to curl in the Provincial Bonspiel as well as three trips to the Manitoba Winter Games.
Grad Heading to Red River
Brittany Popiel received a $500 bursary from the Brokenhead River Community Foundation toward her Business Administration studies at Red River College. After her two years of study for her diploma, she plans a career in business.
Brittany has a long history of involvement in her community including volunteering at Siloam Mission, Ladybug Foundation, and Because I am a Girl world wide program. At school her involvement includes, helping with noon hour activities, assisting with timing and score keeping at volleyball games and track meets. She found a creative outlet with the Yearbook by taking photos of school activities so she could edit them and publish in the yearbook. In grade 12 she was promoted to Editor giving her more responsibility for the book. Her talent with photography was noticed by the Physical Education staff, she was asked to photograph the school teams and create a gallery in the gym hallway.
Dean’s Honour Role for Robert Harris
Robert Harris will receive his second Science Bursary from the Brokenhead River Community Foundation as he continues his studies at the University of Manitoba in Mathematics – Physics and Astronomy Joint Honours Program. This year’s bursary is $800 and he is eligible for bursaries for two more years of his science education.
Robert’s first year was a huge success with a grade point average over 4.0 and making the Dean’s Honour List.
