Endow Manitoba and Win A Wine Cellar 2017
Oh what a night it was. The legion was full of expectant Wine Cellar winners, tables were covered with wine, drink and food were flowing, great entertainment, and the foundation was very very happy.
Our Wine Cellar winners were the happiest of all. Darryl Gershman, Tara Lee Proctor, and Joan Litke shared in a prize of 128 bottles of wine.
Terry Kaminski was the lucky winner of the Bomber Bar fridge that was donated to the Foundation’s Wine Cellar event by Donna Ray Litke. There is a rumor that Terry offered to store some of the wine for the winners.
The foundation was very happy with the success of the evening. This is the second Win A Wine Cellar event held in conjunction with Endow Manitoba 2017 Day. We doubled last years success, with twice as many bottles of wine being won this year. We hit our goal of $10,000 raised in one day and received the maximum bump up of $4,000.
That was due to the great support of the citizens and groups of Beausejour and Brokenhead. CPTC stepped up with a donation of $1,500. Ray Schirle, President of CPTC presents a cheque from that organization toe Foundation President Lawrie Goalen. Ray stated that in the past the foundation had supported CPTC with their projects and now they felt they could step up for the foundation.
It does not stop there. How can you have such a night as this without some great entertainment. Turns out that when you have people such as Tracy K and Jamie Steinhoff living right here in Beausejour, you can. Tracy and Jamie contacted the foundation and offered to entertain and did they ever entertain.
So all in all, It was a great night.
Tim’s Smiley Cookie
Our own Tims right here in Beausejour has stepped up for Beausejour and Brokenhead. In September, they had their Smiley Cookie Campaign and all proceeds from the event was donated to the foundation. Here Scott and Jevon present a cheque for $1413 to President Lawrie.
A great big Smiley thank you to Tims, Scott, and Jevon.
First Annual Wine Tasting Big Success
Our foundation hosted its first Wine Tasting on September 29th. 14 agents had 56 different wines for the 177 people in attendance to sample. Many found new favourites to enjoy. All enjoyed an evening out with friends and neighbours. The foundation is very happy with proceeds of over $3500 to fund its programs in Beausejour and Brokenhead.
The fun is not over. We will be hosting our second annual Win A Wine Cellar in November, so keep Nov 18th free on your calendar.
Beausejour Tim’s Supports Our Foundation
So everyone head to Tim’s for your well deserved break and have a Smiley cookie.
Bench at Train Whistle Park
Thanks to Beausejour Beautification, we have a new bench in the shady location of Train Whistle Park.
Stony Plains Grant
Meghan Quinn, of IERHA, was happy to get the grant of $2100 for a gazebo and furniture at Stony Plains. This will provide residence with some shade during our hot summers. The funds came from Manitoba Hydro Employee Donations – Great Falls Rural Area Charity. Our foundation acted as a local representative for them with a flow-through grant.
