
We want to support the future of our community. There are a number of scholarships and bursaries available through The Foundation.
The Brokenhead River Community Foundation currently offers three scholarships and six bursaries to students residing in the Ecole Edward Schreyer School Catchment area.
To date, 124 scholarships/bursaries valued at $80,874 have been awarded.
Available Scholarships
Brokenhead River Community Foundation Grade 12 Graduating Scholarship
- $1,000 will be awarded to a deserving student.
- Based on academic performance and community service.
Ken Matchizen Memorial Scholarship
- $100 will be awarded to a deserving student.
- For a student entering post-secondary education in any Trade as recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
- In the event that two or more students apply, the student with the highest academic achievement will be chosen.
Robert Rondeau Memorial Curling Scholarship
- $1,200 will be awarded to a deserving student.
- Must have participated in amateur sport as a member of Curl Manitoba (either through a member curling venue or affiliated program).
- Must be actively involved in curling, exhibiting good sportsmanship, during the final two years of secondary school -this must be attested to by a high school coach or a member of the executive of the curling club of which the student is a member. (Due to COVID-19 cancellations only Grade 11 participation is required).
- If two or more students apply with similar involvement in curling the student with the highest academic achievement shall be awarded the scholarship.
Beausejour Curling Club Scholarship
- Applicant must be a graduating student who lives in the Edward Schreyer School catchment area.
- Applicant must demonstrate active involvement in the sport of curling and be a member of good standing in the Beausejour Curling Club in their graduating year. This must be attested to by a high school coach and a member of the Executive of the Beausejour Curling Club.
- Must be actively involved in curling, exhibiting good sportsmanship, during the final two years of secondary school -this must be attested to by a high school coach or a member of the executive of the curling club of which the student is a member. (Due to COVID-19 cancellations only Grade 11 participation is required).
- If two or more students apply with similar involvement in curling the student with the highest academic achievement shall be awarded the scholarship.
Available Bursaries
Brokenhead River Community Foundation Bursaries
- Two bursaries in the amount of $900 will be awarded to deserving students.
- Based on academic performance, community service and financial need.
Science Bursary
- Bursary includes four consecutive years of support:
- $1,200 for the first two years.
- $1,500 for third and fourth year.
- For a student entering and continuing in a science related field at a university or community college.
- Based on academic performance and financial need.
Brokenhead-Thalberg North-Mars-Brokenhead East Grade 12 Graduation Bursary
- $600 will be awarded to a deserving student.
- Based on academic performance, community service and financial need.
- Preference given to students living in the Brokenhead-Thalberg North-Mars-Brokenhead East area.
Eric Lefko Memorial Bursaries
- Two bursaries in the amount of $750 will be awarded to deserving students.
- To support a graduate entering into a post secondary education in any agricultural-related field.
- Based on financial need.
