The Giving Challenge Week Has Arrived!

There’s never been a better time to help our community flourish forever! During Nov. 15 – 21, each $5 gift you make to the Brokenhead River Community Foundation is worth $7 during the Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge. The Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba Government will stretch each $5 gift made to our Unrestricted Fund with $1 each. Only gifts made between 12:01 a.m., Monday, Nov. 15 and 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21 to the foundation’s unrestricted fund will be eligible.

You can support this event and Giving Challenge Week by donating wine, making a donation, spreading the word or all of the above. Any support is truly appreciated. Thank you!

The Brokenhead River Community Foundation helps to connect donors to the causes they care about. Donations can be made in cash, cheque, e-transfer or credit card.

Stretching your gift means even more benefit for our community. The Brokenhead River Community Foundation plays a vital, lasting role by supporting charitable projects that improve life for all of us. Our community foundation supports all aspects of life in the Beausejour/Brokenhead community, making grants to a wide variety of worthy causes by various community groups, organizations, and facilities. These grants are possible thanks to generous gifts from local donors from all walks of life. Community foundations pool and endow (permanently invest) all gifts and a portion of the income earned supports a variety of projects within the foundation’s catchment area. The original contributions are never spent, ensuring a lasting legacy for donors and a permanent source of support for the community.

Canada’s community foundation movement started in 1921 with the establishment of The Winnipeg Foundation. Today there are 56 community foundations in our province – more than a quarter of Canada’s total. These foundations are part of Manitoba’s history of generosity, a tradition in which we can all participate and take pride.

Nov. 15 – 21 is a great time to invest in the future of our community. (Of course, your local community foundation will be glad to receive your support at any time of year!) No matter the size of your gift, your contribution will improve life here for generations to come.

The Giving Challenge Week concludes with our Annual Win a Wine Cellar event which returns this year on November 20. It is once again being held at the Legion starting at 7PM.

The Win a Wine Cellar event is a fun evening designed to promote the Foundation while raising some funds for the foundation. Supporters of the community or foundation are asked to donate a bottle of wine (or two or??) to the foundation. The foundation in turn gathers all the bottles of wine donated and raffles them off with three lucky individuals sharing in all the wine donated. The last time we hosted the event in 2019 – 106 bottles of wine were donated and raffled off!

The evening also will feature presentations from this years Grant recipients. We will learn which groups received grants and what they will use the funding for. As well, the Foundation will host a short AGM that will showcase what we have been up to, what are current status is and future plans. An added feature is we will have some entertainment provided by local artist fuller hull – check out his website at https://fullerhull.ca/
